A content calendar for your small business

A content calendar helps you decide what to say, who it is for and who will finish the work. Start small: one channel, one audience and two planned posts per week. This is a practice example for a local business in Curaçao, not a promise of reach, sales or a required posting frequency.

A content calendar for your small business

Choose one clear audience

Describe a recognizable customer question. A business owner needing product photos seeks different information from someone wanting to book an appointment. For each topic, write the question you answer and the next useful step. Use the language your actual customers understand; do not add another language if you cannot respond well to their questions in it.

Plan four weeks of useful topics

Week 1: explain your offer and answer a frequent question. Week 2: show a real work process and share a practical tip. Week 3: explain a product or service and address a common misunderstanding. Week 4: answer a new customer question and summarize what you learned. Use only experiences, images and permissions you actually have.

Make each post actionable for your team

Give each post an owner, planned date, topic, required visual and status. Record the desired next step, such as asking a question or reading product details. Link to the page that actually answers that question. Keep the final copy and visuals in one agreed location so the team works from the same version.

Review responses alongside reach

After publication, record what you actually observe: questions, enquiries or visits you can measure. A click is not a purchase, and many views do not automatically mean many suitable customers. Compare similar posts and consider timing, topic and format. Adjust your next calendar using concrete signals, not a supposedly guaranteed “best” schedule.

Use the editable template

Download the CSV file below and open it in your spreadsheet application. It contains eight sample rows and no real customer details. Replace the topics, choose your channel and assign an owner. To learn how strategy, content, advertising and analysis fit together, explore the current social media marketing modules and discuss your business goal with Creative College.
